Today starts a new adventure for me -- starting a new job after more than 5 years at my previous company. I'd been looking to leave my old company for quite some time, as there wasn't really much more growth opportunity and I hated the sales part of the role and loved the recruiting. I start work today as an in-house recruiter at one of the top digital ad agencies in the world, and I couldn't be more thrilled about this company, the people who make up my team, and the opportunity.
While it's strange to move on from a company that really shaped my life in a lot of ways, not withstanding that theytransferred me from DC to NYC in the summer of 2008, it feels like breathing in such a breathe of fresh air. I know I'm up against long hours and a new challenge, but I finally get to focus on the skills I acquired that I've become great at and expand up on them.
And with this new job comes some major "wins" as well: I set my alarm this morning for the time I was supposed to be at work at my previous job, I no longer have to dress in corporate attire, no more working pointless hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. even if the work is done, veuve clicquot is their champagne of choice, and there's a coffee bar right inside the office. Awesome.
Suffice to say that I couldn't be more excited about today and this new adventure. Change is good.
